Deciphering Coral Reef Soundscapes
This work created the largest validated library of Caribbean reef fish sounds ever published, offering a powerful new foundation for global reef-monitoring efforts and future machine-learning tools for automated species detection.

Queen Conch Hatchery
Once abundant, the Queen Conch is now disappearing from Caribbean waters. At our hatchery, we raise these iconic marine snails from tiny larvae to healthy juveniles, ready to return to the sea. Visitors can witness the full life cycle up close and learn why restoring this species is vital for reef ecosystems and local culture.
Status: ongoing, tour available
Substation Curaçao
Substation Curaçao is home to the Curasub, a certified manned research submersible that allows scientists to explore ocean depths far beyond the limits of conventional diving. Reaching depths of up to 300 meters, the Curasub provides safe access to deep reefs, mesophotic ecosystems, and rarely observed species.
Status: ongoing, trips bookable
Mangrove Nursery
Mangroves are nature’s nurseries sheltering baby fish, filtering water, and protecting the coast. We’ve built a shoreline breakwater where over 200 red mangroves are growing strong. As their roots spread, they create a living barrier that boosts biodiversity and stabilizes the canal’s delicate ecosystem.

Canal Restoration project
Our canal restoration is transforming a barren waterway into a thriving marine habitat. With coral rock structures, gorgonian replanting, and fish feeding stations, we’re building a safe haven where reef life can return and grow. It’s a real-time example of how nature bounces back when given the chance.
