Queen Conch Hatchery

Our hatchery includes a fully equipped wet lab with an open water system, aeration, and large tanks for the incubation and development of Queen Conch eggs. There’s a dedicated algae lab, currently culturing two species: Chaetoceros Gracilis and Isochrysis Galbana. These species provide essential building blocks during the early life stages of the Conchs. A dry lab supports microscope work, sample preparation, and data collection. We also house a metamorphosis room, fitted with tiered racks for juvenile conchs, all connected to flowing seawater. Large sun tubes are used for high-volume algae production.

Laboratory Space

We offer flexible lab spaces that can be adapted to meet specific research needs. Whether you’re planning a long-term study or a short-term project, we’re happy to explore how our facilities can support your work.

Outdoor Access

Our location at the Curaçao Sea Aquarium provides direct access to a diverse range of marine environments—reefs, lagoons, fish enclosures, and dolphin habitats. These outdoor areas are ideal for field research, behavioral observation, and in-situ experimentation.

Substation Curaçao – Curasub

Substation Curaçao – Curasub

Substation Curaçao is home to the Curasub, a certified research submersible capable of reaching depths of up to 300 meters (1000 feet). This robust and versatile research sub provides a unique opportunity to study deep reef ecosystems, observe rarely seen species, and collect live specimens without decompression damage. The Curasub is used for scientific diving, specimen collection, and high-resolution filming, offering researchers access to depths beyond conventional scuba limits—all from the safety and comfort of a manned submersible.

Research Hangars

Looking for a bigger space? Need industrial grade equipment and/or infrastructure? We have mutliple hangars that can house submersibles, or other small- to medium-sized vessels or equipment.

Heavy lifting

On site of the Curaçao Sea Aquarium we have access to heavy machinery and cranes, as well as a facility to fill compressed air tanks, research vessels and more.
