Visitor Perception & Dolphin Experience Study

Visitor Perception & Dolphin Experience Study

This research plays an important role in shaping the future of marine education on Curaçao. By understanding how our programs influence awareness and empathy, we can ensure that Dolphin Academy continues to operate with transparency, integrity, and a strong emphasis on animal welfare.

Background

Visitor Perception & Dolphin Experience Study (Dr. Harrison Albert, Animal Advisors) In partnership with Dr. Harrison Albert of Animal Interaction Program Advisors, Inc. (d/b/a Animal Advisors), we are supporting an ongoing study that explores how guests think and feel about dolphin programs—and how those perceptions may shift after participating in one. Visitors complete a survey before their Dolphin Academy experience to capture their baseline views on marine mammal care, interaction programs, and animal welfare. After the program, they complete a follow-up survey to measure any changes in understanding, attitudes, or emotional connection.

Findings

The findings help guide improvements, strengthen public trust, and support our mission to connect people with the ocean in a responsible, science-based, and conservation-driven way.
